5 Minutes Toilet Cleaning Bombs Recipe

Here's a bake free recipe that anyone can make at home with just 3 simple and inexpensive ingredients. I have estimated each cleaning bombs to cost about $0.04 which is so much cheaper compared to commercial store bought toilet cleaners.

These are beginner friendly and very easy to make, unlike most recipes out there, these don't expand as much and is easier to manage.

Main Ingredients

  • 2 Cup of Baking Soda
  • 1/2 cup of Citric Acid
  • 1 Tbsp Dawn Dish Soap (Or any other dish soap)

  • Ice Cube Tray
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Airtight Jar/Food Container
  • Sticker Label
  • Mixing Spoon

Follow the steps below to make your own cleaning bombs. I have attached multiple photos so it's easier to follow.

Add 2 cups of baking soda into the mixing bowl

Add 1/2 cup of Citric Acid

Add 1 Tbsp of Dawn Dish Soap

Mix everything together with a whisk or a spoon.

Scoop the mixture and add it to your ice tray, press down on the mixture so that it is compact, wipe any excess away.

This is what it should look like. Now, depending on how much dish soap you've added and where you dry them, the drying time will vary.

It's best to leave them somewhere hot and sunny to ensure that it dries completely and quickly.

Important Tip: It is normal for these cleaning bombs to expand, the more dish soap you add (Don't add too much), the more it expands. So, avoid filling your ice cube tray to the top, leave some space for expansion.

Here's what it looks like after expanding and dried.

Remove from ice cube tray and store them inside an airtight container or mason jar to prevent moisture from entering.

To use, simply toss one cube into your toilet bowl and watch as it fizzes and does all the cleaning work for you!

A Hands free way to effectively clean your toilet bowl and remove unsightly toilet bowl ring.

How long do these toilet cleaning bomb last?

They can last up to 4 months and longer if you dry them completely and store them inside an airtight container.

Can i add essential oil?

Yes, you can add a couple drop of essential oil when mixing the ingredients together. I've left out essential oil in this recipe to keep it as simple as possible but if you have a bottle of lavender essential oil, it's a good idea to add it in.
