I'm always on the lookout for simple and inexpensive ways to clean my house.

Especially when it comes to impossible to clean stains and spills.

So in today's post, i'm going to share 21 ways to use WD-40 to clean your home and use it for everyday needs.

Let's get started!

 

1. Crayon Removal

If your kids love to leave crayon stains on the wall, then you know how difficult it is to remove!

With WD-40, just spray onto the crayon markings, let it sit for 2 minutes before wiping off.

 

2. Eliminate Carpet Stain

Use the magic of WD 40 to save carpets from glue, wax and stains!

If the stain was recently made, remove the bulk of the stain with a wet cloth

Then, spray WD40 onto affected area and let it sit for 2 minutes.

Wipe and spray the area repeatedly until the stain is completely removed.

Works on chewing gums too!

 

3. Toilet Cleaner

Spray WD-40 on tough limescale and mineral deposits in your toilet.

Allow it to sit for 5 minutes before scrubbing with toilet brush or pumice stone.

 

4. Prevent Tools & Mechanisms From Rusting

If you have household tools, gardening tools, then WD-40 is a must to keep these equipment rust free.

A spritz of WD 40 will lubricate the hinges and springs in your pliers and snipping tools keeping oxygen away and prevent rust.

5. Remove Hard Water Stains

Got cloudy looking faucet that you can't seem to clean no matter what?

Spray some WD 40 onto the faucet and spread even so that all affected areas are soaked.

6. Loosen Your Zippers

Can't unzip or having resistance when unzipping?

Avoid pulling hard because the zipper can easily come off.

Instead, you want to use a little WD 40 on the zipper, pull the zipper up and move a couple times

 

7. Remove Stuck On Adhesive 

Sometimes you want to keep the glass bottle but those annoying labels just won't come off!

Spray the exposed area with WD 40 and wait for 2-5 minutes before brushing off with your fingers.

The sticker will come off very quickly and easily without scrubbing.

 

8. Separate Stuck Dishes

Ever had 2 cups of dish stuck together and just cannot separate them?

Spray the gap area with WD 40 and let it flow in.

After 1-2 minutes pull apart. Easy!

 

9. Prevent Snow Buildup On Windows

During winder, the snow can blur your house and car windows.

Glaze your window with spraying with WD 40 and glaze your window glass by wiping with a microfiber cloth.

 

10. Take Grease Stain Out Of Clothing

Got grease stain on your clothing?

No problem, spray WD 40 on greasy spot and dab with a damp cloth. repeat as needed until the grease is gone.

 

11. Fix Squeaky Door Hinges

Apply some WD 40 and swing your door a couple times and the squeak will be gone.

 

12. Clean Stainless Steel Appliances 

Want to leave your steel appliances clean and shinny?

Spray WD 40 onto your fridge door and wipe with a microfiber cloth and you'll have a brand new looking fridge!

Same thing with kitchen sink, after cleaning your sink, dry with a cloth and spray WD-40, then use cloth to wipe polish the sink surface.

13. Clean & Shine Wood Surfaces

Use 1/2 tsp of dawn dish soap on a damp sponge and clean your cabinet down to remove the sticky grease buildup.

After cleaning the wooden surfaces of your kitchen cabinets, spray some WD-40 and polish the surface.

This will leave your wooden furniture with a nice sheen that acts like a protective coating for the surfaces.

 

14. Dissolves Glue Like No Other

The next time you have glue stains on your hands, spray with WD 40 and rub the glue off.

If you happen to have glue stains on your smart phone or watch, spray with WD 40 and wipe off with a microfiber cloth.

If you have paint smudge on your car from an accidental scratch, spray the area with WD 40 and wipe with a clean rag.

At times, the logo block can get too tight and it's impossible to pull apart.

Simply use a spritz of WD 40 between the cracks of the logo blocks, wait for a couple minutes before pulling apart.

Spray the outside of your garden pot with WD 40 to keep the slugs away!

 

18. Ring Removal

Ring too tight to remove?

Use a spritz of WD-40 on your finger to remove, just remember to wash your hands!

 

19. Kill Weeds

Some gardeners will tell you their weed killer recipe and that is WD 40!

Try at the roots of thistle and weed between the floor cracks and once they whither, pull out and throw.

 

20. Remove Black Oil Spots

Use WD-40 to remove unsightly oil spots and splatters from your driveway.

Spray it liberally onto the spot, wait a few minutes, then blot with a paper towel to absorb the oil.

Repeat as necessary until the stain disappears.

It works on greasy oil stained hands too!

 

21. Protect Bird Feeders From Squirrels

It is a well known fact that squirrels love to steal from the bird feeder.

To stop them, just spray WD 40 on the pole and make it too slippery for them to climb and they'll give up.
